We provide you with 1 key and you’re free to access your storage unit any time during our opening hours. Also you can store anything as long as it’s not perishable, live or flammable.

Yes. We take great care of your possessions and have gone to extreme lengths to ensure all storage units are safe. We provide high security padlocks and give you the only key. We also have on site guards and all storage units are well ventilated to prevent condensation.

The same day you make your initial enquiry. We will work with you to ensure that things move as quickly as possible.

We will require a valid form of ID and we will need to take a deposit. Please ask your BigD Storage & Removals advisor for further information on types of ID.

Removals FAQs

If you’re planning a move overseas, we recommend getting in touch as soon as possible. When moving all your possessions, the last thing you want is to have to make last minute rushed decisions. By allowing yourself at least 12 weeks of planning time, your move is much more likely to be a smooth one.

Removal costs are based on the volume of goods you’re going to ship. One of our consultants can help to provide a more accurate quotation by completing a full survey of your property in advance. This will ensure that you do not pay unnecessary costs from over estimation.

It’s vital to ensure that your goods are correctly packaged. We can assist you with this process and provide all the necessary packaging equipment as well as help you pack and unpack your goods.

Once you have left the UK, your moving manager will stay in contact and keep you up to date with the progress of your move along with delivery dates and next steps.

Destination services are carried out by overseas partners, who have been specially selected for their ability and expertise.

Once your goods have arrived at their destination and cleared customs, we will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery date. Our partner will supply a crew to unload and place all items into your property. Where agreed, they will unpack as much as you require and recycle or dispose of the packing materials.

Depending on where you are shipping to, here are some approximate door to door estimates based on container shipments from the UK:

In 99% of cases your container will be unopened if you opt for a sole use container.

In some countries, e.g. Australia, all containers are unloaded for quarantine inspection. This is always carried out under the strict control of our destination partners.

Customs officials reserve the right to inspect goods anywhere in the world, at their discretion. Inspections are therefore beyond our control. Based on experience, 99% of containers are unopened.
